6.19.12 Family Photos

Get ready for alot of pictures because it was really hard to decide which pictures to post of this cute family.  I took these pictures (with alot of help from my sister) on a VERY hot weeknight a couple nights ago and we had a great time - it's always a fun excuse to get together with friends and hang out a little bit while taking family photos.

I like that how sweet and good natured these kids are comes through in these pictures.  Just a happy family!

6.15.2012 My other creative outlets...

So, I really heart photoshop.  Not because I can make my photography subjects look like they are on a magazine cover. And not because I want to use it to alter people's appearances.  I love it for the beautiful effects it can give a photo and I also love it for its design capabilities.  I can lose all track of time in photoshop - I can lose hours of my life. And I can create.

Over the years I have made a lot of designs in photoshop and thought I'd start sharing them now and then. Just like it's a nice way to document my photos - I think this will be a nice way to look at my other creative outlets!

The images I'm posting today are things I have made for my sister's wedding activities. The first is an invitation to her "girls day out" to celebrate her upcoming ceremony.  My sister and I are two girls who love emotional, whimsical, romantic ideas.  This image was the white picket fence and her favorite flower.  A storybook intro and romantic quote about the location they will be married. Was I hoping for tears? Maybe.

I also helped out a little bit with a recent shower for her.  My sister is a popcorn-aholic. So, it was fitting to have popcorn at the shower and I found a little inspiration for this on Pinterest.  I recreated my own version that we printed on popcorn bags to have at the shower... along with soda pop with striped paper straws. (so cute!)

Just a few other fun details from the shower...

5.23.2012 Newborn Portraits: Chloe

My friend, Sara, and her husband had their baby two weeks ago - a beautiful little girl they named Chloe.  I was excited not only to go to their house to take pictures of her, but also just to meet her in person!

Chloe is one loved little girl.  I enjoyed seeing both her grandmas, her grandpa, her older brother, and of course, her parents during this session.  Everyone was excited about the new baby and it was a loving environment - she's a lucky little girl!

Here are some of my favorites of Chloe...

4.29.2012 Senior Portraits: Emily

Oh the connections of living in a small town...and working in the Orthopaedics world.  Emily heard of me through friends at school and asked me to take her senior pictures. Once I met her and her mom, we realized her dad and I work for the same company, her mom and my dad work for the same company, her mom used to work where I work and therefore we know tons of the same people... So funny.  I loved meeting them and making these connections.

Emily is just easy to take photos of - she is so cute.  We were able to show her love of soccer, her highschool job, and alot of her personality in these pictures.  This is what I love about senior pictures - documenting who you are at this big moment in your life.  A photographer, whose blog I love, wrote recently that she is in the business of memory documentation. I love that.  It may become my new tagline... :)

4.27.12 Senior Portraits: Kayla

This evening of senior pictures with Kayla was alot of fun - we felt pretty adventurous in our outdoorsy locations - trecking through streams, orchards, and fields. I enjoyed chatting with Kayla in between locations about highschool things like the upcoming prom and her various track injuries through the years.  Kayla's track event is the hurdles and I do not know how she does it!  Here are some of the pictures of our evening:
