12.23.2010 Family Pictures

I was excited to be asked to take pictures of our long time family friends and I really wanted to deliver pictures they would love.  The pressure was on when because of the cold cold temps, I had about 30 minutes to capture THE family picture.  I was little anxious because I am learning that I  tend to go overboard on the number of pictures I take until I feel comfortable knowing that I have some shots that I love - and hopefully they will too. :)  But, it was fun to spend time with them and preserve this exciting time in their lives as they celebrated the holidays together with David & Kate home from Hawaii and as they make plans for David & Kate's June wedding.  So excited!

12.17.2010 The Year in Review :)

As the year winds down, (and I start to get sentimental) I thought it would be fun to take a look back at 2010... A year, for me, that is ending a whole lot different than it began...A year that has been by far my busiest year of photography since I decided to pick up a camera and see what I could do. I don't even know how I started doing this! I don't feel like I actively chose portrait photography - it just evolved into this. But lucky for indecisive little ol' me, I have friends whose requests for pictures have given me something that I really enjoy - and can keep learning and growing and creating...

I have learned so much this year and have been inspired by so many photographer friends (and strangers whose blogs I stalk!),  and I am already so excited for some new things I am learning about and new things I want to try.  I don't know if I will ever get to the level that I aspire to be!

So, here is my year in a review - a look at some photos from this year.  I have tried to select pictures that I have not posted here before!  Looking forward to 2011...

12.04.2010 Promotional Photos

Recently my friend, Rebecca, asked me to take promotional pictures of her friend Allan Craig Miller. Allan is a talented musician who plays in venues all over Indiana, Michigan and in Music City, USA itself: Nashville, Tennessee. Rebecca is in the process of updating Allan's website (http://www.allancraigmiller.com/) and they need some updated pictures that help convey Rebecca's vision for the site. :)

So, Rebecca and I scouted out locations and crossed our fingers that it wouldn't be absolutely freezing outside.  The locations worked out great...the weather not as much!  But, we toughed it out.

We'll see what pics turn up on the website, on the ACM cd (!) and maybe even head shots for radio stations!

Don't forget to check out Allan's website:  http://www.allancraigmiller.com/

12.04.2010 Family Pictures

The second session of photos we took at Bethany & Thomas' house were of Thomas' siblings.  The pictures are a surprise for their parents and since I think there is a very slim chance of them ever finding my blog, I feel pretty comfortable posting the pictures.  :)  They are a fun family...

12.04.2010 Family Pictures

The final session of photos at Thomas & Bethany's house were their family pictures.  The falling snow gave us a bright backdrop and I love the look of the snowflakes falling in the pictures - it really felt like a movie set! Again - easy subjects who make taking their picture very effortless - even their little boy!

12.04.2010 Engagement Pictures

Impromtu engagement pictures, sibling pictures and family pictures on an early snowy morning!  Saturday morning I visited my friend, Bethany's beautiful home to take pictures of her family.  The first session of photos was Bethany's sister-in-law and her fiance.  They are a beautiful couple and so natural in front of the camera...They made taking pictures of them effortless on my part!
